My Saving Grace

Description

So I spent a rather long time on this. My main reason was to start getting into the habit of creating my own backgrounds instead of relying on pre-made or the 'perfect' stock, which never seems to exist once you get a vision in your head. This BG consists of, well, 4 elements I suppose. First is the forest of trees, then the grass field, the creek and then the light source, however I made the light source myself so I suppose that doesn't count. I literally JUST used this same field and creek stock, but in a different piece and I really wanted to try and use it in something SO different than what it previously was. Hoping I succeeded. *fingers crossed*

The horse worked out quite well, I tried my hand at painting a blind eye. I think it came out alright for my first attempt. Not as good as some of those glass eyes but I think it gets the point across, no? I suppose that's anyone's opinion at this point.

And finally, the lyrics/poem. I think it suited the piece perfectly. I didn't add it in until the very end when it just popped into my head as I was staring at it all. It sums the whole deal up all on it's own. I always want to add like 50 e's at the end of see, but I resisted. XD

I once was lost
but now am found
T'was blind
but now I see

And for the lovely light beam tutorial I have to give credit to *RadenWA. It was wonderfully insightful and quite simple! It gave me the godly light beam deal over the horse. If you want to learn how to make one yourself, follow this [link]
